WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades can give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. A random extra substat is also increased with each upgrade.
The upgraded gear typically has a greater value for trade as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by giving the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create enhancements.
You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks.
item upgrading of upgrades will be based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using the help of The button will display the item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For instance weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.
Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.
In Season 3 the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading other items to that level will be less expensive, even when they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
Players have several choices when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
First, you must be aware that crests are only available for gear with a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade can require up to 20 crests, depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through finishing content at the appropriate level, which involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is designed to allow players to get their gear up to the highest level possible for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable change is that crests only have one purpose therefore it's essential to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the best equipment you have and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
